PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a noise caused by a spring of a sheet without enlarging a sheet stand. SOLUTION: In this paper feeding device, a paper sheet is fed by press- contacting a friction pad supported by a pad stand 10 to a paper feeding roller to separate the sheet with guiding the sheet by a bending guide. A side edge 16 of the pad stand 10 on a downstream side is tilted against a straight line X orthogonal to the sheet feeding direction. An edge on a rear end side of the sheet thereby passes the side edge 16 of the pad stand 10 with gradually changing its position with spending the time, and the edge on the rear end side of the sheet bent is prevented from springing at one stroke and the noise caused by the spring of the sheet is suppressed. The side edge 16 of the pad stand 10 is only tilted and the pad stand 10 is thereby prevented from being enlarged.
