1293138 Heat exchanger tube supports BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd 9 Jan 1970 [10 Jan 1969] 1544/69 Heading F4S In a heat exchanger having adjacent tube coils 4 spaced apart by spacer bars 8 extending axially of the coils, tube spacing members 2 are provided on each of the bars 8 at intervals equal to the tube diameter. As shown the members 22 comprise U-shaped tube clips provided with shoulders 28 to retain them in spacer bar grooves 20. The clips are secured to the spacer bars by means of dowels 40. The radially inner face of each bar 8 is provided with flanges 14 to define a groove 16 which serves to locate the outer ends of the tube clips of the adjacent spacer bar. The clips are disposed at an angle to the spacer bar equivalent to the coil angle of the tubes (see Fig. 2). The outer ends of the clips are each formed with tongues 30, 32, 34. The tongues 32 which are received in slots 38 formed in a locking strip 36, have their ends bent inwardly to secure the locking strip against the tube. In a modified embodiment the tube spacing members comprise lugs welded to or formed integrally with the spacer bars. |
