PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable air conditioner that can obtain high heating capability without incorporating an electric heater into an indoor unit, and at the same time can carry out efficient operation when the high heating capabil ity is not required. SOLUTION: The air conditioner is equipped with a refrigerant compression device 1A that is used as the refrigerant compression device of the air- conditioner and is driven by an electric motor 1A being cooled by a refrigerant to be discharged, and a drive electric motor control means that controls an inverter output voltage being applied to the electric motor 1A for changing current flowing to the electric motor 1. When high heating capability is required, the inverter output voltage is controlled so that the current flowing to the electric motor 1A is increased. When normal operation is made, the inverter output voltage is controlled so that a current value becomes the minimum. |
