SOLUTION: This device comprises an angular velocity detecting means for detecting the angular velocity of a relatively moving object and a correction means for correcting a beat signal outputted from the angular velocity detecting means to a positive directional or negative directional angular velocity signal to a prescribed referenced value in the relative movement of the object in one direction and correcting it to positive and negative directional angular velocities to the prescribed reference value in the relative movement of the object in a plurality of directions. A reference angular velocity signal outputted from the angular velocity detecting means in the movement of the object in the specified direction is corrected by the correcting means, it is detected which of the positive and negative directions of the prescribed value the corrected angular velocity signal has to the specified direction, and the relatively moving direction of the object is discriminated from the positive and negative directions of the corrected angular velocity signal based on the detection result.</p>
