The portable power tool with an internal combustion power unit, to drive mountings home, has a combustion chamber (1) between a base (3) and a facing chamber wall (14). A dividing plate (18), with passage openings (38), is in the combustion chamber (1) between the two walls (3,14). The dividing plate (18) works together with a diaphragm plate (44) which, according to its rotary setting, allows a free passage through a selected number of openings in the dividing plate. The passage openings are in different dimensions and/or geometry, and are arranged in concentric circles. The diaphragm plate (44) has elongated openings in concentric circles.
