PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print a high quality image without lowering the printing speed as much as possible in the case a nozzle failure is generated. SOLUTION: Nozzle rows are recognized preliminarily as an assembly of continuous three or more blocks including nozzles of the same number. In the case a nozzle failure is generated, a block failure position including the nozzle failure is recognized. Moreover, in the case the block failure is generated, a compensation operation for compensating the black failure by another block is stored, corresponding to the block failure position. In the case a block failure is recognized, an image is printed while executing the compensation operation stored corresponding to the block failure position. Since an image can be printed while executing an adequate compensation operation according to the nozzle failure generated position thereby, a high quality image can be printed without much lowering the printing speed even in the case a nozzle failure is generated.
