PURPOSE: A process and apparatus for preparing lining material for joint-sealing a gypsum board by sand-blasting lining material in such a manner that both ends has a thickness thinner than that of the central part are provided, which improve workability by omitting a process for reducing the thickness of both ends and adhesion of the lining material. CONSTITUTION: This lining material comprises a first web(41) having a specified width and a second web(43) having a width longer than that of the first web. The process comprises the steps of supplying raw material of lining material; cutting the raw material into two; sand blasting in a tapered form; cutting the lining material to a specified length; and winding. In an apparatus for the manufacture of lining material by installing a cylinder mold to a pulp tank, the cylinder mold comprises a first cylinder mold equipped with a wire woven mesh sieve formed on a cylinder body and on an outer circular surface of the cylinder body and a second mold, wherein the wire woven mesh sieve of the first cylinder mold is shorter than that of the second mold.
