PURPOSE: A method to construct a breakwater by using a buoyancy tank is provided to reduce the amount of ripraps and a term of works. CONSTITUTION: In a buoyancy tank(1), a square hollow part(3) is formed, and a hollow block(2) is suspended from the bottom of the buoyancy tank by a wire rope(5). The bottom of the hollow block leaves spaces from a seabed surface(10). Ripraps(7) are dropped into the sea through the square hollow part to form a rubble base(8), therefore the hollow block is placed on the base stably. The inside of the hollow block is also filled with the ripraps at a desired height, and a caisson is fixed on the upside of the base.
