PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color proofing apparatus and a method therefor that solve a problem in relation to a conventional ink jet image. SOLUTION: There is disclosed the color proofing apparatus 11 that writes an image into an intermediate ink receiving element 32 and comprises an ink jet print head 602 for writing the image into the intermediate ink receiving element 32. A lead screw 250 moves the ink jet print head 602 in a first direction with respect to the intermediate ink receiving element 32. The intermediate ink receiving element 32 is attached to a vacuum image drum 300 which is rotated by a motor 341 with respect to the ink jet print head 602.
