PURPOSE: A closed battery is provided which can intercept electric current exactly and exhaust inner gas when the inner voltage of the battery increases above prescription, thereby stability is maintained, which can also prevent short of the battery when the battery is compressed and deformed by external force. CONSTITUTION: The closed battery comprises: a can(22) having a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator, and an electrolyte; a variable plate(30) deformed by an internal pressure, which is mounted in the open hole of the can(22) by a gasket(24); a fixed plate(40) mounted under the variable plate(30) by an insulator(36), which has a vent hole(40a) and is welded to a tap(38) projected from the positive or the negative electrode; a projection(40b) of the fixed plate(40), which is joined with the variable plate(30) by welding and has a part(40c) cut under the lower pressure than the pressure for separating the variable plate(30) from the welding part(44) of the projection(40b). |
