The invention concerns a universal tool 10 for a jig fisherman and a carrying arrangement 7 for fastening the universal tool to one's clothing. The universal tool has a rod-shaped shaft piece 1, provided with a handle 3, and at the first end of the shaft piece there is a perforated 6 scoop piece 2 and at the other end a jig head 4 and a knocking head 5. The jig head and the knocking head can preferably be produced by bending one end of the shaft piece in the form of a T. The knocking head can be used as a hammer or striking implement to stun the fish. The jig head can be used to lift the fish up through the borehole, to release bait stuck to the lower surface of the ice and to break a thin ice layer covering the borehole or ice hole. Thanks to the jig piece, the universal tool can also be used as an awl for rescuing oneself from an ice hole. <IMAGE>
