<p>A filter unit, esp. a pressure or vacuum filter comprising a number of filter plates mounted on a shaft with no anti-vibration coupling, and with the shaft extending into the housing from an external vibrational drive, for torsionally vibrating the filter plates to clean them, has the shaft mounted inthe housing cover plate by a bearing with the vibrational drive at its outer end; the internal portion of the shaft carries the filter plates, and the bearing is outside a torsionally resilient bellows which forms the shaft seal. Specif. a counter weight may be mounted on the upper end of the shaft to produce a system having a natural frequency, esp. with its node point situated in the shaft bearing. The filter is esp. used for dangerous substances where manual cleaning is impossible.</p> |
