The invention describes a cable with a recyclable covering, particularly for transporting or distributing medium and high voltage electricity, in which at least one covering layer is based on a thermoplastic polymer material comprising a propylene homopolymer or a copolymer of propylene with ethylene and/or another alpha -olefin other than propylene. The cable of the invention possesses superior mechanical and electrical properties and in particular allows the use of high operating temperatures, even higher than those of cables with coverings formed from crosslinked polymer base materials.
