PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the position of an object quickly and easily. SOLUTION: A pair of magnetic sensors are composed of a magnetic sensor ZMS for detecting a magnetic field in the vertical direction and a magnetic sensor XMS for detecting a magnetic field in the horizontal direction. Two pairs of the sensors are prepared in a position measuring part LCT. Two acceleration sensors XAM, YAM for detecting inclination to the two rectangular horizontal directions of the magnetic sensors are installed. A coil PCL for generating a magnetic field and an acceleration sensor AAM for detecting the inclination of the coil from the horizontal direction are installed in a probe PRB. A magnetic field generated from the coil PCL is detected with the four magnetic sensors XMS-1, XMS-2, ZMS-1, ZMS-2. By using magnitudes of the four magnetic fields, attitudes of the magnetic sensors detected with the acceleration sensors XAM, YAM, and inclination of the coil measured with the acceleration sensor AAM in the probe, the relative positions between the coil and the magnetic sensors are calculated. A point at which a vertical straight light passing the coil PCL intersects the ground surface is indicated with a ray.
