PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable acoustic apparatus which can be freely attached to a cassette deck of an external accoustic apparatus and can output a sound reproduced signal of a medium of the portable accoustic apparatus from the external accoustic apparatus and can record a sound signal from the external accoustic apparatus to a medium. SOLUTION: The portable accoustic apparatus outputs a reproduced signal from a storage medium 2 from a headphone 20 when being independently used. A main body 1A having the same external shape as a compact audio cassette is directly attached to the cassette deck of the external apparatus, and the reproduced signal subjected to DA conversion by an AD and DA conversion part 5 is converted into a magnetic signal by a magnetoelectric and electromagnetic conversion part 7 and is transmitted to a magnetic head 19 on the cassette deck side, and then the sound signal is reproduced from the recording medium 2 incapable of being reproduced by the external apparatus, and is outputted by the external accoustic apparatus and a sound signal from the external accoustic apparatus is digitally recorded in the storage medium 2 by the operation opposite to reproducing. The operation of the cassette deck is detected to control the main body 1A, and thus the operation burden to an operator is reduced.
