PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spread spectrum communication unit and a method by which a capacity of a memory required to detect timing and code stream is reduced. SOLUTION: The spread spectrum communication unit that receives a signal outputted from an opposite unit that uses a spread code of a code sequence so as to spread a plurality of slots consisting of time division frames as an input signal and detects frame timing and the code sequence, consists of a plurality of inverse spread sections that apply inverse spread to the slots of the input signal with a prescribed spread code to provided an output of correlation values, a selection section that selects at least one spread code in the order of higher correlation values by each slot on the basis of outputs of all the inverse spread sections and provides an output of the spread code and the correlation value, a storage section that stores the output from the selection section corresponding to the slot, and a decision section that estimates the frame timing and the code sequence on the basis of the stored spread code and correlation value. |
