PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide multiple luminescent areas which can be turned on or off independently, maintaining the conventional area occupied by the circuit part in one pixel. SOLUTION: In a pixel electrode 141, the multiple convex part 302 is formed in one pixel. This protrusions 302 are the contact area with the ITO film 237 described above, and in the lower layer of the protrusions 302, the ITO films 237 are isolated. In the set up plane of the pixel electrode 141, recessed multiple luminescent parts 300 are formed along the protrusions 302. Because the multiple luminescent parts 300 have very thin thickness of EL layer 141 as 1000 angstrom, if the current flows a contact area, then the charge injection and recombination are caused only in that contact area and the independent luminescence is possible. The quantity of luminescence by the luminescent parts 300 depend on the area, and therefore if the luminescent parts are equally divided into N divisions, each luminescent part 300 becomes to have maximum N2 kinds of luminescent quantity.
