The invention relates to a communication system for the interaction between medical laboratories and medical treatment centers. Centralized laboratories already make use of data communication for transmitting analytical data whil e they still accept or handle orders in a conventional manner. According to th e invention, all relevant laboratories and their specialized departments on th e one hand and the medical treatment centers on the other hand are interconnected via data communication devices with an integrative central laboratory data base that is provided with a server computer.
