PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain boron-containing stainless steel more inexpensively producible without damaging its corrosion resistance and hot workability. SOLUTION: This boron-containing stainless steel contains, as the main components, by weight, 0.6 to 2% B, 17.5 to 21.5% Cr, 0.4 to 0.75% Mo and 8 to,10. 5% Ni. Among the contents of Cr, Mo and B, there is a relation that the value of the effective Cr equivalent expressed by the formula of Cr+3Mo-2.5B is controlled to >=16 wt.%. Moreover, the boron-containing stainless steel contains <=0.08% C, <=1% Si, <=2% Mn, <=0.04% P and <=0.01% S, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities.
