PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating organic waste water capable of reducing the amount of ozone to be consumed by stopping the oxidation of the organic matter having a benzene ring up to oxalic acid and a treating device for the same. SOLUTION: The treating device for the organic waste water has a first reaction section 2, a second reaction 1 section 4, a third reaction section 5, a deposit detection section 7, a solid-liquid separation section 8 and a biological treatment section 11. The organic waste water 1 containing phenol is introduced in this order therein. In the first reaction section 2, the waste water is oxidized by the ozone supplied from an ozone supply section 3 connected thereto to form the oxalic acid from the phenol. In the second reaction section 4, ammonia and calcium hydroxide are added to the waste water and the oxalic acid in the organic waste water 1 is deposited in the form of calcium oxalate. Further, in the third reaction section 5, the oxalic acid and ammonium ions unreacted in the second reaction section react to deposit amide oxalate. In the solid-liquid separation section 8, the deposit is separated and is released through the biological treatment section 11.
