PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel rotational frequency detection mechanism for a washing and dehydrating drum that overtops a mechanism of detecting the rotational frequency of a washing and dehydrating drum indirectly from the rotating speed of a motor. SOLUTION: A suspension rod hanger 15 as a connection between a suspension rod 3 by which a washing and dehydrating drum 4 is suspended and a washing machine frame 1 is mounted with a pressure sensor 40, the inductance of which varies according to a pressure variation applied by the suspension rod 3. The inductance variation of the pressure sensor 40 is converted by an inductance-to-frequency conversion circuit 45 into frequency signals, which are passed to a control part 46. In the control part 46, on the basis of a timer value-to-frequency conversion table set in a ROM 48, an arithmetic part 41 computes continuous frequencies and resultantly the rotational frequency of the washing and dehydrating drum 4 from the frequencies. The output of the pressure sensor 40 can be used in the detection of the weight of the washing and dehydrating drum 4 as well as in that detection of the rotational frequency thereof.
