PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To edit a part of an embroidery pattern in the unit of parts of the pattern smaller than the unit of the pattern. SOLUTION: A partial region pointer 30B stores partial stitch data or partial regions corresponding to the parts of patterns such as a flower, stem, leafs, sun, coronas, wings and trunk separated with commands of a start, stops and an end, so that the start and stop commands function as partial region codes providing locational information. When a focus pointer 30C is focused on a target position in the partial region pointer 30B, the corresponding partial region code is extracted and the contents are registered in a region pointer registry region 30D. The patterns can be changed or edited in the unit of the partial stitch data corresponding to the partial region code registered in the registry region 30D.
