PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the stabilized operation of a rotary heat exchanger by performing appropriate switching control of drive source. SOLUTION: The rotary heat exchanger comprises a main drive source for rotary drive under steady state, and a backup drive source for rotary drive under unsteady state and exchanges heat of gas by rotating a heat exchanger body equipped with a heat storage body continuously or intermittently through these drive sources. A control mechanism for switching the main drive source automatically to the backup drive source under unsteady state comprises an operation circuit for controlling the main drive source, an operation circuit for controlling the backup drive source, a sensor for detecting the rotational state of the rotary shaft of a heat exchanger body, and a backup sequencer for deciding whether a switching is made to the backup drive source or not, based on information delivered from the operating circuit of the main drive source and the rotation sensor. |
