PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the stable full jump operation at the time of reproduction in the case the land/groove recording system is used. SOLUTION: The brake pulse time is set by a half track jump circuit so that the jump period at the time of half jump operation becomes equal to the kick pulse time (=Tk) at the time of full jump operation. Since the time when the kick pulse time at the full jump operation is finished, i.e., the changeover timing of the kick pulse and brake pulse is determined by the zerocross timing of a tracking error signal, a laser beam is positioned nearly at the center of the land in the zerocross timing. By setting so that the half jump operation is finished in the same period as the period from the start of jump operation to the zerocross timing, the moving locus of the laser beam at the time of half jump operation coincides with the moving locus of the laser beam at the time of full jump operation.
