The doctor blade has an axially extending chamber (13) defined circumferentially by an axially extending dosing blade (18) adjoining the sleeve face of the roller, and by a sealing blade (16). The gap through which the fluid medium flows through to wet the sleeve face of the roller narrows over a least one section (33) in the flow direction of the medium. The axially extending compression body (19) in the chamber has at least one outflow channel (30) opening into the pressure chamber through which part of the fluid medium can flow out of the chamber.
