<p>An off-line indicating system for indicating where an object, such as a golf ball (26), should be replaced to reposition the ball (26) on a line-of-sight at a precise location, e.g. on a putting green, from where the ball (26) has been temporarily removed comprises a reference component (11) having pins (18, 19) for engaging turf of the green and marker lines (17) and an intermediate component (12) also having marker lines (33, 34) and a profile (25) for contacting the ball (26). The intermediate component (12) is aligned with the ball (26) and the reference component (11) is aligned with the intermediate component (12) and located on the green. The ball (26) and the intermediate component (12) are removed. Accurate replacement of the ball (26) is achieved by replacing the intermediate component (12) in line with the reference component (11) and replacing the ball (26) in abutment with the profile (25). The intermediate component (12) and the reference component (11) are then removed.</p> |
