The closure fault indicator for an aircraft engine cowling has a pair of tilting stops (42,44) which hold the cowling sections (12,14) at a visible spacing when the sections are moved to a closed position. The stops are tilted when the cowling locks are not closed correctly. The stops cannot be tilted by direct interference by an operative. The stops can be sprung to a stable position.
