PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CaS phosphor that can obtain a practically needed level of luminance with adverse effect on the cathode emission reduced in a fluorescence display tube with about 100V of the acceleration voltage. SOLUTION: The phosphor is constituted with calcium, sulfur, europium, and chlorine in amounts of 1 mole of calcium, 1 mole of sulfur and 0.0001-0.1 mole of europium and chlorine, respectively.
