PURPOSE: A baking cooker is provided to automatically stop to prevent abnormal temperature if it is determined that oil dropped into a plate during a cold start cooking is in an abnormal high temperature. CONSTITUTION: A baking cooker includes a grill case(2), a food locating member(6), a heating member(7), a plate sensor(9), a controller(8) and a decision unit(10A). The decision unit decides whether or not the heating member is operated in a cold start or in a hot start. As the result of the decision, if the heating member is in the cold start, the controller stops the operation of the heating member when the temperature detected by the plate sensor reaches a first temperature. If the heating member is in the hot start, the controller stops the operation of the heating member when the temperature detected by the plate sensor reaches a second temperature higher than the first temperature.
