PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen an insulation area and to reduce a running cost and a processing cost. SOLUTION: Heated gas blowing nozzles 6 are arranged on the sidewall of a lower position of a vertical type furnace body 1 which is equipped connectedly with a waste feed apparatus 2 at the top in an airtight manner and with a discharge port 3 at the bottom. A heated gas feed pipe 8 is connected through a header 7 to the heated gas blowing nozzles 6. A gas outlet 9 is installed at the upper position of the furnace body 1. In a state in which a waste 4 is fed from the waste feed apparatus 2 into the furnace body 1, a heated gas 5 is blown from the heated gas blowing nozzles 6 into the furnace body 1 and is raised in the furnace body 1 toward a gas outlet 9. The heated gas 5 heats and thermally decomposes the waste 4. A carbonized matter 11 formed by the thermal decomposition is discharged from the discharge port 3 and taken out from the gas outlet 9 into a gas takeout pipe 10.
