PURPOSE: A suspension for noncontact-starting and stopping of a hard disk drive is to minimize or prevent friction between a head and a disk due to a contact therebetween to minimize wear particles, thereby securing stable performance of the hard disk drive. CONSTITUTION: A slider(9) having a header(10) is disposed at one of a rod beam(12). A suspension arm is connected to the other end of the rod beam to connect a coil motor and the rod beam. A shape memory alloy(16-1) is disposed to generate a bending stress at a desired position of the rod beam and the suspension arm. A power supplying portion(20) supplies current to the shape memory alloy. The shape memory alloy is formed into one of a wire type, a spring type or a film type, and disposed at a bending area(14) formed at the rod beam. Alternatively, the shape memory alloy is formed over the bending area of the rod beam and a portion in which a rib(13) is formed, or disposed at a surface on which the slider is mounted or at an opposite surface.
