PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply detecting or determining an HCV with high sensitivity and a reagent for detecting or determining the HCV used therefor. SOLUTION: An immunoassay detects or determines an HCV core antigen by forming an immune complex by conducting an antigen-antibody reaction of an alkaline phosphatase labeled anti-HCV core protein antibody with the HCV core antigen in a specimen in an aqueous solution containing a salt of a high concentration and measuring alkaline phosphatase activity in the complex. The reagent detects or determines the HCV core antigen containing the alkaline phosphatase labeled anti-HCV core protein antibody, 0.5M to saturated concentration of a salt and the reagent for measuring the alkaline phosphatase activity.
