摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform assigning intensity levels of high quality by binarizing a signal to be applied to a data line. SOLUTION: A data converting circuit 300 generates a binary signal Ds instructing the applying of a signal turning respective pixels 100 ON or a signal turning them OFF in each subfield of plural pieces of subfields in which one field is divided. A data driving circuit 140 receives this binary signal Ds and applies a voltage turning the pixels ON or a voltage turning them OFF to the respective pixels for every subfield in which one field is divided also it is provided with two kinds or more of voltage values of the voltage turning them ON and it performs weightings for every subfield by these voltage values. As a result, the priod of the minimum subfield can be maintained for a long time and binary signals to be applied to pixels can be written surely. Moreover, since on OFF voltage applying period is provided between subfields in which voltage values of the voltage turning the pixels ON are to be changed over, the changing over of the voltage values is performed after the applying of the voltage to the respective pixels is completed in a previous subfield.
