<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a repeater that can relay a packet addressed to an address that has been resolved, by allowing a router to make address resolution to a packet that is relayed. SOLUTION: When the destination address of a packet received from a network port 7 is in existence in a router address table 2 or no relay destination information is in existence in a relay destination information table 1, no protocol processing is applied to the packet and the packet is transmitted from a corresponding router port 6. Furthermore, the packet received from the router port 6 is transmitted to the network port 7 without any protocol processing. Thus, a router 8 conducts the protocol processing for complicated address resolution and the repeater periodically acquires the routing information on which the result is reflected to update the relay destination information table 1.</p> |
