<p>alloy razor blade has a surface layer consisting essentially of Cr oxide, the thickness of this layer being such that the razor blade is coloured. Specif. the layer has a thickness of 40-80nm. The razor blade is prodced by oxidising an Fe-Cr. alloy strip in surroundings in which the oxygen potential is such that the Cr is oxidised before the Fe oxidn. is effected at 750-1100 degrees C in an atmosphere contg. an oxidising agent and a reducing agent pref. The H2 may be mixed with N2 and be derived from the decomposition of NH3.</p> |
