The control/regulating device monitors the charge delivered by the electric storage battery (3) coupled to the electric motor/generator (2) combined with the i.c. engine (1), for increasing the revs of the i.c. engine when an excessive charge drainage is detected, with subsequent disconnection of the battery from the electrical load when the excessive charge drainage continues.
