The present invention encompasses methods of treating patients with hyperhomocysteinemia, caused for example by end stage renal disease. The invention also includes related pharmaceutical compositions containing a folate, vitamins and other homocysteine modulating agents which treat severe hyperhomocysteinemia. Specific combinations and dosage levels of folic acid and other vitamins are disclosed. These compositions are also contemplated to lessen the incidence and reduce the complications of cardiovascular and vascular diseases, and blood coagulation problems associated with this group of patients. |
