APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR EXPANDING DYNAMIC RANGE OF VIDEO PROCESSING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for expanding a dynamic range of a video processing system is provided to stably expand the dynamic range by removing a motion disagreement occurred when synthesizing videos with different exposing levels. CONSTITUTION: A video multiplexing unit(12) divides a digital video signal(I) inputted through an input terminal(IN1) into video signals(Ie,Is) with different exposing levels and outputs the divided video signals(Ie,Is). A motion compensating unit(14) revises a motion portion of a video in which an exposure is excessive using outputs(Ie,Is) of the video multiplexing unit(12) and the digital video signal(I) according to a motion amount of a video photographed in a CCD, and outputs a revised result(Ie") to a video output unit(16). The video output unit(16) interpolates a dark portion of the revised result(Ie") of the motion compensating unit(14) and a bright portion of an underexposure video(Is) using the first luminance weight value generated from the underexposure video(Is), and outputs the interpolated result as an exposing video signal having a dynamic range through an output terminal(OUT1).
