PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling a call of folder-type mobile telephone are provided to use conveniently the mobile telephone by taking a call without opening the folder of the mobile telephone. CONSTITUTION: An RF(Radio Frequency) module(102) performs RF demodulation when a call request signal is received from a base station via an antenna(101). A digital signal processing block(103) converts analog signal to digital signal, and transmits the call request signal to a control unit(104). A sensor(111) generates a sensor output signal by sensing the on/off of the folder of the mobile telephone. The first speaker(108) is arranged within the folder, and the second speaker(109) is arranged on the outside of the folder. An audio output switching unit(113) selects one between the first speaker(108) and the second speaker(109) by a switching control signal to output the audio signal from the digital signal processing block(103). A speaker selection switch(112) inputs a key instruction, which makes a call perform without opening the folder. The control unit(104) generates the switching control signal, which operates the speakers(108,109) in response to the key instruction. If the key instruction is inputted, then control unit(104) makes the first speaker(108) operate, otherwise makes the second speaker(109) operate.
