PURPOSE: A shield status detection system for an electric mattress having shield material is provided to simplify the reliable electric mattress system without a probe. CONSTITUTION: The shield status detection system for an electric mattress comprises an antenna(ATN), a signal generator, a display unit, and a safety circuit. The antenna patterned on the printed circuit board(PCB) embedded within the thermal controller detects the environmental electric potential. The signal generator produces a lighting signal when the neutral line is connected to the shield material. The display unit turns on the lamp based on the lighting signal. The resistance(R1) of the safety circuit restricts the current flowing into the base of the transistor(Q1) when the shield material is connected to the hot line, and opens the ground line when the shield material is connected to an electric heater.
