PURPOSE: A No.7 protocol test method in communication system is provided to verify a basic MTP(Message Transfer Part) L3(level 3) protocol by performing a hardware or software loop back setting. CONSTITUTION: A transmission terminal of a trunk card(22) connected to the first signal link(23-1) is connected to a reception terminal of a trunk card(22) connected to a secodn signal link(23-2) by using a hardware loop back. When a user inputs a destination, a monitoring program decides whether a pertinent destination is registered by means of a software loop back or a hardware loop back previously. After No.7 MTP L2 is activated, the MTP L2 informs a normal connection of a level 2 to an MTP L3. If the pertinent destination is registered by means of the software loop back, an SLTM(Signaling Lnk Testing Message) is generated in order that a suitable signal link is tested, and is transmitted to the destination, and the MTP L3 receives the SLTM through the hardware loop back and another signal link. So, an existing of a registration of a DPC(Destination Point Code) in SLTM is certified. If the DPC in SLTM is registered, an SLTA(Signaling Link Test Acknowledge message) as a response message of the SLTM is transmitted to a signal link which receives the SLTM. If the SLTA is received again through the signal link which transmits the SLTM, the MTP L3 protocol is operated normally.
