PURPOSE: A method for remotely receiving a failure report in an SLMOS(Subscriber Line Maintenance/Operation System) is provided to remotely receive the failure report from a subscriber, and to analyze a failure cause, then to notify the subscriber of a corrective maintenance. CONSTITUTION: Failure receivers(11,17) receive failure reports from customers, and decide whether a corresponding installation is a local or a remote installation. If the corresponding installation is the local installation, classification modules(133,193) classify a copper and an optical subscriber network installation. Test modules(135,195) test for the local installation. If the local installation is failed, failure processing modules perform a corrective maintenance. If the corresponding installation is the remote installation, server connection modules(134,194) transmit server information to operation terminals(12,18), and attempt connections to remote servers(13,19). Authentication modules(132,192) decide the connections from the operation terminals(13,19). The remote servers(13,19) attempt connections through receiving modules(131,191). If the connection is permitted, the classification modules(133,193) classify the copper and the optical subscriber network installation. The test modules(135,195) test for the remote installation to analyze a test result, and store test information in data bases(137,197). If a remote receiving operation is completed, the connection between the operation terminals(12,18) and the remote servers(13,19) are released. The information performed by the operation terminals(12,18) is stored in the data bases(137,197).
