The invention concerns a method characterised in that it comprises at least a step which consists in threading right through a support (2) with a needle pulling one or several raffia fibres (3); passing through the support in the opposite direction at some distance from the first operation to create the desired effect; then in passing through the support again in the other direction, likewise at a distance from the first operation to create the desired effect, so as to form raffia fibre loops (4) over the whole surface or part of the surface to be decorated; cutting with a suitable tool the top of all the loops (4) along the line (5). The invention is useful for decorating articles of common use made of any material, such as bags, clothing accessories, slip covers, cases, and the like.
