<p>Conventionally, disk management is only for a single recorded area of the whole disk, and therefore file management for each type of data is impossible. A data recording/reproducing apparatus according to the invention comprising recording area setting means (50) for setting logical recording areas on a recording medium and file managing means (60) for managing files while referring to free area management information, recorded file management information, and deletion file selection criterion information, characterized in that the file managing means (60) deletes part or all of at least one file or do not write new data while referring to the deletion file selection criterion information if it judges that the free area is too small to write new data after referring to the free area management information.</p> |
