PURPOSE: A shock absorber is provided to improve a piston to generate more accurate damping action when a vehicle bumps and rebounds to secure ride comfort and adjustability. CONSTITUTION: A shock absorber comprises first oil passages(20), second oil passages(22), metal balls(24) and ring parts(26). The first oil passages(20) are placed on a piston(10) penetrating with certain gaps between. The second oil passages(22) are formed by penetrating the piston more largely and placed between the first oil passages(20). The metal balls(24) are inserted into the first and the second oil passages(20, 22) moving freely. The ring parts(26) are installed on the sides of an upper chamber and a lower chamber(28) crossing the first and the second oil passages(20, 22) of the piston(10) to prevent the metal balls(24) from being detached. The lower chamber side diameters(d1) of the first oil passages(20) are smaller than the upper chamber side diameters(d2). As the diameters of the first and the second oil passages(20, 22) are formed oppositely to differ oil passages principally acting on rebounding and bumping to adjust damping force appropriately.
