PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoide a decrease in recognition rate due to the input of a low- resolution image and to eliminate the need for conventional confirming operation of image input by interpolating image information of low resolution to a specific level. SOLUTION: The character recognition device which inputs image information and recognizes characters of the image information is equipped with a character interpolation part 11 which converts the inputted image information of low resolution to specific resolution through image interpolation and a character recognition part 12 which recognizes the image information converted by the character interpolation part 11.
