PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner made small in thickness and prevented from damaging a binding part even in the case of reading a book and the like. SOLUTION: An inverted V-shaped fluid prism 1 is formed by waving a fluid 5 having fluid property and light transmitting property by waving sources 6a and 6b, and the prism 7 is irradiated with light from a light source 8 so as to generate refracted light reaching an information medium 1, then reflected light from the medium 1 reaches a light receiver 9 through the prism 7. The scanned contents of the medium 1 are photoelectrically converted in the light receiver 9.
