Optical disc drive positions tracking actuators in midrange of disc based on tracking error signal detected from optical disc and switches ON actuator

Tracking of optical disc (1) is performed by tracking actuator (4). Based on tracking error signal detected by optical disc, tracking controller (8) controls operation of tracking actuator. A minimum deflection detector (9) and controller positions actuator at mid range of disc and switches ON actuator.
