PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress plate thick variation, which is generated by controlling a roll peripheral speed of an upstream side stand in order to correct the tension between stands in an appropriate range, to the minimum. SOLUTION: When controlling the tension between a (n)th stand and a (n-1)th stand in a prescribed range, a roll speed of a (n-2)th stand is corrected in the reverse direction in accordance with the correction of a roll speed of the (n-1)th stand.
