PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide modified cross-section, hollow fiber polyester yarns that can impart, to the fabrics made from the yarns, excellent soft properties in no need of using fiver single filaments constituting individual yarns, light weight properties, high heat-insulating properties, high bulkiness, excellent dry touch and texture due to the hollow filament structure and modified cross section. SOLUTION: Each single filament constituting individual filament yarn has the hollow part 2 near the center of the cross section with a 8-45% of hollowness. In addition, individual single filament has a modified cross section having 3 or more projections 1 on the outer periphery in which the width H of a projection is less than 1/5 of the diameter of the circumscribed circle and the length L is 1-2.5-fold of the H width, the modified cross section degree of 1.5-3.0 and the Young's modulus of the yarn of <=40 g/denier.
